for the love of music or money??

Would you say most artist are in the music business for the money or the love of music? This question works with any profession. How can you tell whether or not they really love what they do? Is it wrong to do something you dont love to do? People get so caught up with money, i mean dont get me wrong money is what makes the world go around but is it to the point where you can stick around in the music business just because it pays good? Some artist can come off really strong about their love for music and express through their lyrics and music but others can also come off pretty strong with this emotion but it can all be fake. My opinion is that if you love money more than your profession than you should find something that you can enjoy more than just making money, do something that makes you happy and makes you forget about how much u really make. Money can't buy you happiness!

music videos influence

You would think music would be enough influence on the media yet music videos have a greater influence. Now a days music producers all have different ideas and concepts for a successful music video, and this allows the people to have a variation of music/music videos to watch. (http://www-tech.mit.edu/V105/N48/elliot.48o.html) "For young children, this effect can be extremely damaging. Young children often have trouble distinguishing between reality and fantasy, right and wrong. They do not have enough personal experience to compare what they see on TV with real life." These music videos are like video games to children, if they like what they see they will try to mimick every move. The children can not tell whether its right or wrong what they are seeing on the television, it is twice as hard to distinguish that especially since the artist are the ones showing them these actions.

its more than just lyrics

Have you ever noticed that people will memorize their favorite songs lyrics yet never listen to the instruments? Some people have no clue what instruments are playing behind the song...when its the drums and piano and guitar and exc that are making up the music not only the words. I personally love music its a huge part of my life but its just recently that i really started listening carefully to each song....pointing out what instrument is playing at a certain time. Every note to each song makes the song a success. Just balancing the beats to each instrument is difficult enough yet the artist or artists make it their business to make sure everything turns out just right.

"illegal" downloading

They have officially made downloading music from "unofficial" programs illegal! They are taking this beyond serious.....turns out they have created private networks for each college to make sure that the students aren't downloading illegal music. "The U.S. recording industry Wednesday stepped up efforts to stop college students from downloading pirated music online and offered students a way to settle the disputes out of court. The Recording Industry Association of America, or RIAA, said it sent 400 letters to 13 U.S. universities advising of potential copyright infringement lawsuits against students who use their computer networks to swap songs they haven't paid for."
i mean i don't think its that big of a deal that people are downloading music from free sites...its just the word illegal that makes it sound so wrong. They are invading the students privacy with this new network. They should just let students download what they want, most of the programs that allow them to download this "illegal" music contain virus's. Why not let them deal with it, their the ones who don't want to pay for their music and are going to end up with a virus on their computers. "Previously, the group filed lawsuits against individuals who illegally swapped songs on Internet-based networks like KaZaa and Limewire. The music industry argues the practice has cost them millions of dollars. " These well known programs are the cause of messed up systems.

The different purposes of Music

Other than having music to listen to and relax to there are different purposes for it. Movie producers use music for their movie soundtrack, adding a little twist to several of their scenes making the movie more alive and setting the mood. Business partners or even students can use music for a power point presentation to make it more presentable or to set their point. It also can be used for celebrations like birthday parties or a formal dinner at a nice restaurant. Music is a definite need in a club, what would be the DJ's purpose in the club without any music? It's also used in sport events like a basketball game, as the players are in the game the announcer starts playing music that gets the fans and players in the mode. Of the several purposes of music i mentioned maybe music censorship would come in handy. Especially in a educational presentation. How would it look if a student was presenting his final project infront of his professor and his or her class mates and than the music came on and all you hear is F this and F that and than gun shots come out, i mean the student would be pretty stupid if he or she ever attach a song like that. Yet if that was the case it must have been for a reason, maybe they thought it was the best song to describe the mood but blocking out those violent words and actions would really help, don't u think? What about at birthday parties especially for a younger kid, the kid and his or her friends most likely like the same type of music and if the music they liked had a bunch of curses and nasty language music censorship would come into play and parents wouldnt have to complain about the music and both the parents and children would be satisfied. As much as Music plays a big role in the society so does its censhorship!

Definition of great music

What is the definition of great music? Is it rhythm with matching words to it or is it a great voice with a catchy beat? In my own opinion great music would have to be when the artist is motivated by their own words and isn't afraid to express themselves through a song. Obviously the song has to make sense and catch the listeners attention but the artist has to put themselves into the listeners shoes and make music thats going to make them really listen to each every word. There's so many songs out there, that leave people inspired. No matter if its hip hop or rap or rock or spanish music they all have something unique in them. Great music can just be an instrumental with each instrument on point. Listening to artist blabbling about girls and drugs can either be really stupid or be great music because of the way they express their feelings towards those subjects. They can talk about how they've struggled with certain things in life and how drugs have affected them deeply. There are many various subjects artist can sing about but like i said its the way they describe each subject. The music that gets people off their feet and singing loud and proud is what you call great music. Its the music that captures the listeners feelings and allows itself to come out clearly!

music's Influence on teenagers and children

"Lately though music has been criticized for corrupting teen's minds. Rap is being blamed for all the crimes and murders in cities all over America and heavy metal is being blamed for giving teens only dark images and thoughts in their minds. Although the media and public criticize rap and rock music and blame the music for influencing teens negatively, they actually give many teenagers an outlet from their life problems." ( www.cyberessays.com/arts) Why is it that parents blame rap, hip hop, and rock for the way their children behave? i will admit rap does have a lot of r rated language but its the childrens choice to listen to that type of music. They should know that theres many different types of people out in the world with different views of how the world works , dont try to hide reality from children. Then again when i have children i wouldn't want them to start talking like some of these artist rap, such as cursing or influencing them that gangs are cool. It's scary how how younger children start getting involved into things like gangs and fighting and weapons. For example, this little kid to your right looks to me like hes about 11 years old and notice how he's wearing all red and throwing up signs to resemble the gang called "the bloods". How sad is this image knowing that this child is growing up in a household where it its okay to act in such a violent manner. It's scary when a "good" boy goes "bad"
